Duplex Doppler Ultrasound

Irwin Goldstein, MD

An ultrasound device is able to show form and structure under the skin.  Placing the probe of the duplex Doppler ultrasound on the erect penis, the flow of blood into and out the erectile chambers can be examined. Using the gray scale feature, the quality of tissue in the penis can be visualized to show whether it is homogenous, or if there is scar tissue. After undergoing regenerative therapies, the ultrasound with gray scale can objectively show improvement in the quality of erectile tissue.
