Platelet rich plasma is an experimental regenerative therapy that has been used in other body parts for other indications, but is now being used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is hypothesized that the PRP injected into tissue will encourage release of important growth factors into the tissues that decrease inflammation, increase blood flow and increase penile smooth muscle cell function. Blood is drawn from a patients arm, spun down in a special centrifuge that separates red blood cells, plasma and buffy coat. and then injected back into the appropriate genital area.
